Belarusian State Academy of Arts

Art, science and culture are internationally important. That is why Belarusian State Academy of Arts collaborates and broadens its contacts with global cultural institutions.

Belarusian State Academy of Arts is the only arts academy in the Republic of Belarus. Five faculties of the Academy withhold unique blend of professionals, who provide students not only with high quality of information and knowledge They also are the icons of classical and trendy styles and techniques, feel the latest tendencies in the fields of art, science and culture. Among them are Professor Zinkevich (winner of numerous international contests and projects in art), graphic artist Pavel Tatarnikau (twice awarded by “Golden Apple” at BIB – illustration biennale in Bratislava), graphic artist Valery Slauk (numerous international awards), famous film and theatre directors Vitautas Grigaliunas, Pavel Ivanov, Vladimir Zabello, designer Lev Tolbuzin etc.

Bachelors, masters, postgraduates and teachers in BSAA take part in scientific and creative competitions, invent, initialize, create new projects and ideas. Mikhail Barazna, rector of BSAA, in assistance with Ekaterina Kenigsberg, chief of international department, was the curator and head of Pavilion of the Republic of Belarus at the 54^th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia (project «Kodex», 2011). Artists Yury Alisevich, Dzianis Skvartsou, Viktar Piatrou, Kanstantsin Kastsiuchenka who presented their project are all BSAA graduates. The architect of the pavilion was professor of interior cathedra Mikhail Shikau.

Numerous graduates of the Academy are now famous and well-known artists. Yury Yakavenka and Anzhela Malysheva were awarded grand prix of the international engraving Biennale «Jozep de Ribera» in Xativa, Spain. Among those who was awarded highly on different competitions are Alesya Skorobogataya, Denis Chubukov, Olga Melnik, Boris Borozna, Sergey Torbik, Ruslan Fedotov.

Geographically, the position of Belarus is extremely advantageous and allows the representatives of the Academy to see and value the unique blend of international cultures and events, as well as the national ones.

Working on the inner vision is impossible without cultural diversity. For that reason BSAA is extremely interested in developing the field of international probations and exchange programs. BSAA is a place, where workshops, lectures and events held by foreign professors and leading representatives of art and culture take place very often. Art Gallery of BSAA holds exhibitions of modern art.
